Over 150 years of experience at your service!

We at Sandvik are world leading in metallurgy and materials development and has over 150 years of experience in the area. In the medical sector we develop materials and product forms of precision strip, micro-tubes and ultra-fine wire and wire-based components.

STRIP

We are world leading in producing precision strip advanced material for use in bone saws, mictrotome blades, orthopeadic plates and more.

Our cold rolling mills can produce precision strip and foil in thicknesses down to 0.015 mm (0.0006 in.), with tolerances down to +/-0.001mm (0.00004 in.) and in widths up to 400 mm (15.75 in.).

TUBES

Sandvik medical tubes are available in a variety of stainless steels and delivered with cold drawn, ground, extremely polished or bright surface, depending on size and wall thickness.

Our program of medical tubes covers tubes for cardiovascular and diagnostic applications, dental and surgical instruments as well as medical tubes for reconstruction, trauma and spinal use. Our in-house production of medical tubes allows for tailor-made sizes in small batches.

Outside diameter: 0.5-25.4 mm (0.0197-1 in.), wall thickness: 0.1-8 mm (0.0039-0.315 in.). Other dimensions are available upon request.

ULTRA-FINE WIRE AND WIRE BASED COMPONENTS

We also produce ultra-fine wire and sell it under the brand name EXERA®. Round wire sizes range from 0.010 to 10 mm (0.00039 to 0.394 in.), for most alloys. Other sizes available upon request.

Ribbon wire thickness ranges from 0.013 to 0.75 mm (0.0005 to 0.03 in) with aspect ratios up to 10:1. Larger aspect ratios up to 40:1 may also be available upon request.

We also support our customers to produce wire-based components. From precision tolerance coating to multi-filar micro cables, we can provide you the best possible solution for your specific medical device application. We can help you conceive and implement innovative materials solutions that can make the manufacture of your device highly reliable and meet the strict quality requirements.

The wire-based applications are used for applications cardio/cardio vascular, neuro/spine, glucose monitoring and cochlear implants.

Straightening of the wire is one of our core competencies.

Another key competence in the wire production is coating where we besides traditional polymer and PTFE coatings also can offer custom formulations.

OUR SUPPORT SERVICES

For us is don’t matter if you’re a startup or an established producer – we can support you in the research and development of new products, lab services in our certified lab or materials selection.

We work very closely to our customers and we have the competency to support you both with unique product and process development found nowhere else in the world. We are thrilled by projects where our long experience is challenged and where creativity is a key – all to drive the development of medical devices further.

We can also support you with your production so that your products reach the market faster. Many of our customers say when we start working together – “why didn’t we meet you sooner, that would have saved us years of trial and errors”.

We hold the certificates needed for the medical device development and quality is paramount for us.

We leverage time-tested procedures to maintain the highest standards for our products. We also understand the importance of agility in our design process as we continually implement lean initiatives to increase quality and decrease variability.

And as your development partner we know that your success with your processes and products is also our success. Come by our booth at MD&M Midwest and we can discuss what we can do for your business. Booth no 2433.
