Hologic agrees to acquire UK’s Endomagnetics for $310m

Hologic has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Endomagnetics (Endomag), a developer of breast cancer surgery technologies, in a deal valued at nearly $310m. The acquisition price is subject to adjustments based on working capital and other standard closing conditions. Endomag specialises in technologies for breast surgery, including the Magseed marker, Magtrace lymphatic tracing injectable, and the Sentimag platform.

Karius secures $100m in Series C funding round

US-based life science company Karius has secured $100m in Series C funding, which was co-led by Khosla Ventures, 5AM Ventures, and Gilde Healthcare. New investor Seventure Partners joined existing investors including Softbank Vision Fund 2 and General Catalyst in the round. The investment will enable Karius to extend its reach beyond the 400 hospitals in the US currently using the Karius Test. 

Medline agrees to acquire Ecolab’s surgical solutions business for $950m

US-based healthcare company Medline has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the surgical solutions business from Ecolab for $950m. The transaction, subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is anticipated to be finalised in the second half of 2024. This deal will provide Medline with sterile drape solutions for surgeons and Ecolab’s fluid temperature management system.

Sight Sciences awarded $34m in Alcon patent infringement case

Sight Sciences has announced a positive trial verdict in a $34m patent infringement case against Alcon and its minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) device, the Hydrus Microstent. The jury on the case, which Sight Sciences filed in 2021 in the District Court for the District of Delaware, found that Alcon subsidiaries, including Ivantis, which it acquired in 2021, willfully infringed on three of Sight Sciences’ asserted patents.
