Sandvik Materials Technology renames to Alleima™ 31 August, 2022

Now our best kept secret has finally been revealed – Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) will be distributed and listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm Exchange, and at the same time be renamed to Alleima.

The name Alleima is created by combining the words “alei”, and old version of the word alloy, and materials – encapsulating the essence of the company’s business. Our name will change, and our brand will be new. But this will not change our long history that we share with Sandvik or our way forward.

Alleima will continue being a world-leading manufacturer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys and heating systems for the most demanding industries where medical is one. The separation from Sandvik is expected to provide stronger and more focused governance and control over the business with a clear mandate for Alleima to execute its strategy to drive growth, materials innovation, operational and commercial excellence and sustainability.

“Advancing together” will be the brand promise of Alleima. We will continue to work in close relationship with our customers and let our expertise in materials development, metallurgy and industrial processes advance our customers’ operations and enable new technologies.

Sustainability will continue to be a top priority within Alleima. The fully integrated value chain, from R&D and primary melting to final product, allows Alleima to provide superior quality and flexibility in its offering, minimize its CO₂ footprint and increase circularity. In 2021, the company estimated that 94 percent of its global electricity usage was fossil free. Furthermore, the goal is to make all Alleima products fully recyclable and wrapped in recyclable packing, substantially reducing their lifecycle footprint.
